Paraiba tourmalines are among the world’s most prized gemstones, named after the Brazilian location where they were first discovered in 1989.
Upon its discovery the mesmerizing stone was quickly considered the finest tourmaline variety ever found and rocketed in its value. These rare gems are renowned for showing intense blue colors. Many of these gems also have a secondary green hue.
For Paraibas, color is more important than clarity.
Major commercial sources for Paraiba tourmaline are Brazil, Nigeria and Mozambique.
Gaining a certificate of the stone’s origin and other details is very important to ensure its authenticity.
